Madison High School (Madison, South Dakota) has had a tennis program since the 1930's, with its first tennis champ in 1936, Irving Kaska. The first Madison tennis player to place at state was Gordon Swan, who received second place in 1933 (runner up to Percy Klimisxh, Yankton). The Madison Tennis Association is a supporter of Madison Middle and High School and the Madison Booster Club.

Madison Tennis supported 2019 South Dakota move from one division to two divisions of tennis. The state had to make the move since there were too many players, and state tournament matches were still going at midnight on the first day. The three day tournament was no longer workable. But Madison Tennis had wanted two divisions to encourage fair play amongst the different size schools, rather than have schools with 2500 students play against schools with 250 students.
